Building Code Violations

There are a number of requirements and standards related to City-Parish building codes, all of which are adopted in the Baton Rouge Code of Ordinances. Structures must be built to the standards set forth in the International Residential Code 2012 (IRC) and the International Building Code 2012 (IBC). If you are constructing a new building and have questions about the building codes to which your development, building or project must adhere, please contact the Department of Developmentā€™s Permit and Inspection Office at (225) 389-3205.

To report a development, building or project that you believe is in violation of one or more City-Parish building codes, please contact 3-1-1 or the City-Parish Code Enforcement Division directly at (225) 389-8680.
