Woody Waste Collection

The City-Parish recognizes woody waste to include brush piles, tree limbs and shrub prunings. Many of these items, as well as bagged leaves and grass, may be collected by the City-Parish garbage contractor if they are placed at the curb properly.

Do not bag yard and other woody waste; please place loose at the curb for recycling.

Bagged leaves and grass should not be mixed with bulky trash or yard and woody waste. Please note that yard waste, leaves and grass that is placed in a garbage cart will not be collected.

If you believe you are in compliance with these policies and the City-Parish garbage contractor missed your scheduled woody waste service, please contact 3-1-1. Please note that during periods of heavy rainfall or hazardous conditions that result in a large volume of tree limbs and other debris having fallen, woody waste pickup will take place as scheduled but may take longer than normal due to the volume of work associated with such pickup. In these instances, be as patient as possible and know that City-Parish staff and contractors are working as quickly as possible to clean up the city and parish. Requests for service will be addressed in the order in which they are received and/or in accordance with emergency response protocols where special debris collection is of greatest need.
