Road Shoulder in Need of Repair

The shoulder of a road is located on the edge of a roadway and typically serves as an emergency lane for motorists who may need a paved space to quickly exit the main roadway, vehicles experiencing a breakdown or other vehicular issues, or even emergency vehicles that may need to quickly bypass traffic. Due to the nature of these lanes as a valuable safety resource for both a vehicle experiencing an emergency as well as others sharing the road, the City-Parish takes the repair of such features very seriously.

To request the repair of a shoulder, please contact 3-1-1; be prepared to explain or provide information about the specific location the repair is needed, if possible, due to the expansive network of shoulders throughout the City-Parish. Please be advised that, in many cases, a roadway might belong to the State of Louisiana rather than the City-Parish. In these cases, the City-Parish would not be authorized to make the repair.
